The initiative for the creation of RealSales started with Diogo Fernandes Thomaz. A Marine Biologist with a PhD in Genetics, Diogo has accumulated many years of experience in the Aquaculture Industry as an R&D Project Manager for one of Greece's largest companies in the sector. He then went on to work as a technical and business consultant in Greece and Cyprus and got involved in sales promoting companies across these countries in the field of Aquaculture and Nanotechnology. Two years ago Diogo did a Professional MBA program at Greece’s top business school (ALBA Business School), which helped consolidate a vast industry expertise with a strong business management background.
Filipe Fernandes Thomaz had been nurturing the idea of creating a trading company leveraged on solid knowledge and broad geographical footprint for a few years. Actually Filipe was instrumental to the go ahead and creation of RealSales. Filipe, who is also a Marine Biologist, opted early on for a business career, having led for many years a Centre for Computer Learning in Portugal. He then invested in an Executive MBA in one of Portugal’s top business schools (EGP School of Management) after which he joined an IT company taking on the role of Commercial Director. In his past, Filipe also accumulated other business experiences from ventures in Mozambique, USA and Portugal which were very important in cementing his global perspective of the business arena.
After finishing his degree in Chemical Engineering, Miguel Almeida Henriques took up management positions in some of Portugal's most significant companies in different sectors ranging from ceramics to the chemical industry. After a long period of time working in the industry he returned to the University and invested in a Post Graduation degree in Enterprise Sciences, in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra. For the past 8 years he has been working as a management consultant for many companies and associations, specialized in corporate strategy and organization. Those activities place him at the heart of a vast business network in Portugal which have resulted in many successful partnerships for RealSales in which Miguel is always seen as a true cornerstone and value add element.
Tiago Fernandes Thomaz, also a Chemical Engineer but this time graduated from Instituto Superior Tecnico (Portugal) with a solid management background built over the last 8 years where he worked as a Management Consultant in Accenture both in Portugal and in London (UK), was RealSales’ recent addition to the management team. The strategic imperative to grow organically and geographically and Tiago’s personal decision to change his professional career towards entrepreneurship was an obvious synergy that could not be missed. The UK node started its operation in July 2009 and all partners believe this recent geographical expansion will act as a catalyst to leverage the international trading network concept which all strive to shape.
